9For he spoke, and it came to be;

commanded, and it stood firm.

God is firing up the nation. Divine lightning sparks and kindles America’s vibrant tapestry. The people of the United States are more diverse than divided, more akin than disparate. Try to orchestrate 331 million Americans to sing in harmony.

Dissonance – tension – brings out the best of us. Life is on the wire.

               10The Lord foils the plans of the nations;

                he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

                 11But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,

                the purposes of his heart through all generations.

                 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord

                  Psalm 33 (The New International Version)

How to heal…

Let’s dig deep into the wounds and root out the cancer. Unite the country by exercising due diligence. Discern whether or not election fraud will make a material difference. More than 174 million people have cast ballots. Inevitably, incongruities have occurred, some intentionally. Will the bad apples in the election process spoil the bunch?

Leave no stone unturned.

To quote President Donald J. Trump:

             “The American People are entitled to an honest election: that means counting all legal ballots, and not counting any illegal ballots. This is the only way to ensure the public has full confidence in our election.”

Most Americans will gradually forgive and forget if-and-only-if they can again believe in their most prized election process. So, let’s dig deep and eradicate and cure the cancer, whether real or imagined. Only then will America grapple toward mutual tolerance and joint acceptance.

Now to step two: Distribution of Resources or the Economy

Every Monday I seek evangelical wisdom from the Pastor of pastors, the head of an imperfect church, the Shephard of billions. Saint Pope John Paul II in ‘JOY, the Keynote of the Christian Message,’ reminds us:

                “We are an Easter People, and Alleluia is our song!

                We are not looking for shallow joy.

                We seek a joy that comes from faith, that grows through unselfish love, that respects the fundamental duty of love of neighbor, without which it would be unbecoming to speak of Joy.

What if America combines the wealth-building principles of capitalism with the wealth-sharing principles of socialism? In the Gospel, the Apostles suggest that Jesus sends the crowd away to find food and lodging. But Jesus does not follow their advice. Instead, he says: “Give them something to eat from yourselves.” This reply startled the Apostles. They heed his words and follow his instructions. Jesus blessed the loaves and fish and “handed them to his disciples to distribute among the crowd.” The disciples’ task is distribution. (Matthew 14:13-21 Message Translation)

People everywhere want to work. Jobs are scarce even though resources abound. The means, methods, and mechanisms for many to make money elude most people. Leaders worldwide should focus on jobs, jobs, and jobs because their citizens want to work, work, and work. To work, one needs to be trained, not just for a few years but throughout one’s life. So, nations should offer training and continuing education. Concurrently, workers must remain healthy. Universal healthcare should be part of the social contract but NOT Medicare-for-All (though it might be a good start).  Consider the privatized medical delivery system in The Netherlands. It’s NOT socialized medicine as in the United Kingdom or Canada.

If you want people to be economically productive, maximize their income potential. Also, make sure they can get to work quickly and efficiently. The people of the United States deserve mass transit transportation and improved infrastructure: roads, airports, train stations, etc. Ultimately, every country should commit to empowering its residents to become optimally productive. Fewer people will become economic refugees if there is more work at home.

On the train from Amsterdam to Frankfurt, I met and dined with a young American military officer. She opened my eyes when I heard her say: “America needs to take care of its own,” to which I responded, “Yes! Alleluia is America’s song!”

Of course, we touched on the Israeli-Palestinian Quest to Co-exist. I said: “Relocating the United States Embassy to Jerusalem has added fuel to the fire. Israelis want peace, as do the Palestinians and the 400 million Arabs surrounding Israel:”

                “Most Israelis and most Palestinians, tired and stressed out, seek a future without war. Both do not support indiscriminate brutality against the other. They desperately want security and peace.

                The vast majority (73.8%) of the Israeli Jews, and 97 percent of the Israeli Palestinians with Israeli citizenships, living inside Israel, and 85.7 percent of the Palestinians (under enemy control in Gaza and the West bank) want peace, heretofore, either not realized or denied by all sides of the Divide.

                This is breaking news affirmed by the Jerusalem-based Israel Democracy Institute and the Ramallah-based Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research.”
